Welcome to Bytes & Bull, the review site dedicated to technology reviews. We have had a big emphasis on headphones in the past, and still do, but our new writers have shifted away from a heavily IEM focus to reviewing all types of technology! If you would like to write for us, please contact us.
Ranking System:
Each category is worth 5 points averaged out to a score between 1-5:
Comfort/Build (Can you wear it for long periods, will it fall apart after 1 use?)
Lows (Sub-bass/bass quality and quantity)
Mids (Vocals/Instrument clarity and presence)
Highs (Cymbals/High pitched vocals or instrument quality and presence)
Soundstage/Imaging (How big and accurate the song sounds)
Value (Cost vs Performance)
Our objective is to write reviews that anyone can understand, not just experienced Audiophiles.
Hi, I really enjoyed your reviews on the Sony MDR-Z1R and the JM Audio XTC-C. These are two headphones that I’m trying to choose between to purchase, so your reviews have been very helpful, thanks. It’s appears that you prefer the XTC-C headphones and I am leaning in this direction as well (noting the cost savings), but everyones tastes (and ears) are different so before shelling out my $$ for either I am keen to listen to them both first. I can find a few places that stock the Sony MDR-Z1R, but listening options for the XTC-C are slim to none from what I can see. I live in Australia (as I suspect you do, based on some of your song selections and the wording of some of your reviews/comments – although I could be wrong) and I was wondering if you could suggest anywhere I could go to sample the JM Audio headphones in this country (I live in Adelaide but often travel to Sydney for work).
